The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is a slow-moving, filter-feeding carpet shark and the largest known extant fish species. The largest confirmed individual had a length of 18.8 m (61.7 ft).[9] The whale shark holds many records for size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate. It is the sole member of the genus Rhincodon and the only extant member of the family Rhincodontidae, which belongs to the subclass Elasmobranchii in the class Chondrichthyes. Every universe has a different Spike Speigel. The one that lives in the Neon Slums was the recipent of the Swordfish Mk III instead of the Mk. II. This alternate version of the classic mono-racer features an experimental engine capable of pushing the zip-craft to speeds previously thought impossible. Shortly after being given the MK III by Doohan, Spike wrecked the Swordfish costing him his entire left arm in the process, but Doohan came through and built Spike a new arm.
