  Lockheed CL-945 stowed-rotor aircraft (CARR) 3D Model 2026-09-15
In the mid-60’s, VTOL in all its forms was all the rage. In 1965, Lockheed answered a US Army Request For Proposals with the CL-945 concept, a stowed-rotor helicopter design. At low speeds and hover, it would operate as a helicopter; at higher speeds, aircraft-style propulsion systems would power it forward; and at much higher speeds than helicopters normally attain, the rotors would stop rotating and would fold back and be stowed for minimum drag. It was a great idea that had the little problem of being horribly complex, heavy and expensive.

The Yakovlev Yak-141 ( NATO reporting name “Freestyle”), also known as the Yak-41, is a Soviet supersonic vertical takeoff/landing (VTOL) fighter aircraft designed by Yakovlev. The design was initially designated the Yak-41M by the Soviet military. Once testing commenced, and the two prototypes began accumulating numerous world class records, it became necessary to invent a designation for use in the west, as the name Yak-41M was classified. The designation Yak-141 was selected, and it was by this name that the aircraft became known to western allies, though officially the aircraft’s designation remained Yak-41M within the Soviet military. In 1991 Lockheed-Martin entered into partnership with Yakovlev to further develop an aircraft they had always known as the Yak-141. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 90824 polygons.

Train running on spheres or balls. The fate of this project was unenviable, although it promised many things and had a considerable feedback both in the USSR and abroad. The invention of NikolaiYarmolchuk (1898-1979) seemed quite promising, especially since in the 30s of the last century one could only dream of high-speed ground transportation. But the main thing - the unusualness of the idea itself struck. It combined the paradox of thought, the challenge to the usual course of things, a kind of intuitive anticipation of the future. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 243037 polygons.
