A battle diorama based on the anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury". Specifically the battle is based on the battle simulation between the students of Earth House and Grassley House from episode 9 of the anime. The Mobile suits on display inlcude: XVX-016 Gundam Aerial, CFK-029 Michaelis and the CEK-077 Beguir-Pente.\n\nThe models are rigged and optimized for real time rendering. The modeling itself was done in Maya and the texture work for the mobile suits was done in Substance Painter, as for the environmental textures they were made in Substance Designer. 3D Model is ready to download for free

This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn’t work at all with the scene. Instead I’ve kept it very basic and natural. I don’t think it’s super realistic at all and if I had more time I would probably have devoted more of it to better texturing, but I think for a last-minute project it’s not too bad ^^ 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 8269 polygons.

Model of Asuka Langley the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion! Posed as she is in her official artwork – spunky and tsundere.
I wanted to do a chibi model of Asuka after working on the Mass Produced Evangelion character (also visible on my page!), and in the end I think she came out really cute! I like modeling cute things truthfully as well as figurative characters, so this project was definitely a lot of fun. It was once again a big learning experience though, as I really tried to work on things like facial topology, that anime-feeling style, and being painterly with my textures. I still have a long way to go of course, but this felt like a big milestone that I’m happy to have done!
