對於早期的傳統雕刻，常有一種說法，稱其欠缺寫實能力，但真是如此嗎？看看這對成於兩百多年前的石獅，落有「乾隆癸丑年菊月置」、「銀同弟子林進喜助」字款，口形一開一闔，表情金剛怒目，背脊直挺，上半身前傾，將重量貫注於下端的綬帶及少獅，生動地刻劃出結實緊張的肌肉，鬃髮與綬帶亦如實唤起觀者對鬃髮流暢飄盪與布料舒捲翻折的印象。縱使民間藝匠從未看過真實的獅子，但從生活與傳統中汲取滋養，以及對物象深刻的親察與表現，不也創造出較真獅更加活靈活現的感人作品......
