This huge sculpture stands in the middle of Bordeaux (France). When I walked by, I was stunned by this “half flat" sculpture, and shot it with my phone. I was realy impressed by the very realistic rendering, although most of the volume has been flattened.
Another feature worth noting : its proportions take into account the fact that the viewer is on the ground, so that the upper part of the head is much larger than it should be , to compensate for the perspective. This is a technique that has been know for a long time, (used by Michelangelo), but it's interesting to see how it applies here.
It's 7 meter high, and because of this I had some difficulty reconstructing the top parts 3D Model is ready to download for free with 2 Texture files attached, this model contains 112484 polygons and 56242 vertices.

Archeology Collection Here is the 8th model of the archeology collection. This limestone funerary cippus was discovered in Bordeaux during the unearthing of the Gallo- Roman ramparts in 1868. It is dated 258 a.C. The epitaphs are dated 261 a.C. The double epitaph, both pagan and christian, does not allow to say that Domitia was Christian. However, it is an extremely interesting marker of the transition to the time when Christianity will prevail in this part of the world. You can discover it at the Aquitaine Museum in Bordeaux, France.
